The Story

When I was a young girl, my friends and I used to talk about what our lives would be like when we were older—what we’d be doing, where we’d live, what we’d accomplish. We each had an idea of what would come next. Often I find that when life doesn’t go the way I’d hoped or expected, I forget to view my circumstances with a spirit of imagination and adventure. I forget to pay attention. But the times when I do pay attention, I find possibility, hope, and wonder. This painting is about choosing to keep an open mind when contemplating the future.
